About This Course

The 5G cellular networks will provide network performance that is significantly better than that achievable with current networks and enable connectivity as a scale that will facilitate the development of new applications and business cases. The objectives of this course are to:
• Provide an understanding of the architecture, operations, and fundamental technical concepts behind cellular networks.
• Familiarize the students with core and supporting technologies of 5G networks, and issues related to their deployment, operation and security.

At the end of the course, the participants will be:
• Familiar with the operations and design principles 5G cellular networks
• Able to qualitatively evaluate the applicability and benefits of 5G networks for application use cases

What You'll Learn

Over the last 25 years, cellular network technologies have evolved over multiple generations and the latest 5G networks are poised to play an integral role in the digitized work and living environments of the near future. This course will introduce the participants to the fundamental concepts and technologies behind cellular networks. The course will emphasize heavily on 5G networks including their architecture and core technologies. The course will also introduce the students to supporting technologies for 5G, cyber security considerations, and strategies for the deployment and management of 5G network. Case studies of 5G will be presented in the Singapore context

A bachelor's degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
