About This Course
The course aims to equip participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to support the food sector. It allows participants to gain valuable work experience and reinforce classroom learning.
What You'll Learn
In lieu of projects done during the OJT phase, academic CET participants (i.e. those who are non-WSC participants) would need to complete an in-institution project that will be contextualised to the company that sponsors/employs them. The duration of the course is 18 months.
The course will cover the following Modular Certificates:
1. Fundamentals of Food Science & Technology
2. Food Safety & Quality Management
3. Principles of Food Processing
4. Food Science
5. Applied Food Technology
Entry Requirements
The entry requirement of the WSC is as follows:
a)	Fresh ITE graduates (within three years of graduation or Operationally-Ready Date (ORD) date) from the relevant feeder programmes (NITEC Applied Food Science, NITEC Chemical Process Technology, Higher NITEC Chemical Technology and Higher NITEC Biotechnology)
b)	ITE graduates (of relevant fields or working experience) who have graduated within five years of graduation or ORD date.  They will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
The entry requirement for the non-WSC/academic CET mode is a recognized relevant NITEC/Higher NITEC (same feeder programmes as the WSC).  Candidates without the minimum academic qualification may be admitted based on merit on a case-by-case basis (such as relevant working experience).  Such candidates may not be eligible for WSC sign-on incentives and sponsoring employers may not be able to access WSC employer grants.
