What You'll Learn

This module helps students understand and apply the theories and principles of communication as well as cultural considerations to ensure that the messages are effectively conveyed. Students will be equipped with practical skills in both oral and written form of communication. Through practice and application of basic communication principles such as being aware of their purpose in communication, the audience’s needs and context, students will learn how to structure and adapt their message to communicate their ideas effectively. This module also introduces theories and principles of public communication and outreach. Topics include audience analysis, message formulation, oral and visual tools, and art of persuasion. Students will learn to develop outreach plans and strategies, and effectively communicate their ideas to raise public awareness in environmental conservation. Successful local and international conservation issues and movements will also be discussed.

3 GCE ‘O’ level with English language (grade 1-7), Science (grade 1-6) and 1 relevant subject (grade 1-6)

Relevant WSQ Diploma with Level 6 WSQ Workplace Literacy SOA and Workplace Numeracy SOA

For applicants who do not meet the MER, the polytechnics will consider discretionary entry based on the structured process for discretionary entry to CET diploma programmes.
