About This Course
1. Describe the principal features of the Singapore legal, political and judicial systems.
2. Analyse and apply the main principles of the law of Contract at the workplace.
3. Explain Tortious Liability and Other Liabilities of hotels and their employees.
4. Explain other relevant laws applicable to the hotel industry namely, Employment Law, Intellectual Property Law and Corporate Law.
What You'll Learn
It deals with the principles and practical application of the relevant laws in managing and running of hotels and hospitality establishments, making them to become more effective employees, executives and professionals. Relevant legislations and recent court decisions will be used including case scenarios to show how the law is relatable and applicable to the hotel sector and daily life.
The module covers the following main law areas:
• Singapore Legal System
• Types of Laws
• Contract Law
• Tort
• Other and Relevant Specialised Laws, Innkeeper’s Act, IP and Company Law
Through a balance of seminars, tutorials and e-learning sessions, students will systematically prepare for, research, discuss, review and reflect on the various topics through a balance of seminars, tutorials and e-learning sessions.
Entry Requirements
The applicants should possess a relevant local polytechnic Diploma or Degree in Business or Hospitality from recognized institutions. They should also have at least 2 years of relevant working experience.
Applicants who do not meet the entry requirements may be considered for admission to the course based on evidence of at least 5 years of relevant working experience or supporting evidence of competency readiness. Suitable applicants who are shortlisted will have to go through an interview and/or entrance test.
