About This Course
The course aims to equip adult learners with theoretical and technical competencies in applied microbiology, in medical diagnostic, environmental, pharmaceutical quality, and food testing laboratories.
The Specialist Diploma in Microbiology focuses on theoretical knowledge as well as practical applications using new and emerging technologies that is applied in the areas of applied microbiology, in medical diagnostic, environmental, pharmaceutical quality, and food testing laboratories. It equips the laboratory practitioners or participants with equivalent roles with the knowledge and skills required to undertake new roles that include Quality Assurance Assistant, Quality Control Assistant Laboratory Analyst and Quality Control Laboratory Analyst / Chemist / Microbiologist in Biopharmaceuticals Manufacturing industries.

Entry Requirements
Applicant must be a diploma or university graduate in the fields of life and chemical sciences, microbiology, bioengineering, chemical engineering, food science or health-related disciplines.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL): Applicants who do not meet the entry requirements may be considered for admission to the course based on evidence of at least five (5) years of relevant working experience in healthcare, bioprocessing, pharmaceuticals, chemical and biotesting sectors or supporting evidence of competency readiness. Suitable applicants who are shortlisted will have to go through an interview and/or entrance test. The Polytechnic reserves the right to shortlist and admit applicants.
