About This Course

This module introduces the key concepts of facility planning and design which facilitate synchronous material flow, reduce material handling and movement, and maximize use of floor space. It covers the requirements of plant site location selection, plant and office layouts, basic facility services, as well as the selection of machines and labour.

What You'll Learn

This module is part of "Certificate in Manufacturing Planning & Optimization", which equips participants with the skills to plan and manage the development, operations and support of engineering systems. Participants will learn how to predict system performance and perform trade-off analysis to select a design and operating characteristics that meet users’ requirements cost-effectively.

Entry Requirements

3 GCE ‘O’ level with English language (grade 1-7), Science (grade 1-6) and 1 relevant subject (grade 1-6) - 1 years of relevant working experience

Higher NITEC (GPA 2.0 and above) or (GPA 1.5 and above and 1 years of relevant working experience)

NITEC (GPA 3.5 and above) or (GPA 3.0 and above and 1 year of relevant working experience)

Higher NITEC in Technology/Services (GPA 2.0 and above and 1 year of relevant working experience)
NITEC in Technology/Services (GPA 3.5 and above and 1 year of relevant working experience)

Relevant WSQ Advanced Certificate (or higher) AND at least 1 year relevant work experience AND Level 6 WSQ Workplace Literacy SOA and Workplace Numeracy SOA

For applicants who do not meet the MER, the polytechnics will consider discretionary entry based on the structured process for discretionary entry to CET diploma programmes.
