Fashion & Fabrics (Basic Dress with Lining)
About This Course
Learners will now be able to differentiate between the high end and the fast fashion industries, and therefore discern the differences in quality through the analyses of both the materials used as well as the finishing. They will be able to upskill themselves and execute better finishes and designs that can be implemented and developed later on into evening or bridalwear, such as with the use of the princess line cut and lining.
They will also be able to create well-fitted and customized pieces that are accustomed to the individual body shapes and sizes through the methods of drafting and alterations that will be covered.
Learners who design fashion can independently do up basic dress samples and prototypes from scratch or even train someone else to do it, starting from taking body measurements, producing pattern blocks for dresses, evolving the designs and polishing it up with appropriate garment finishes without outsourcing to overseas facilities. They can make simple modifications to their designs and alterations and will also be able to perform basic quality checks on the garments produced.
Learners who deal with fabrics and merchandise can identify the characteristics of fabrics, thereby being able to determine their quality and suitability for given designs.
What You'll Learn
They will develop pattern drafts both in quarter-scale and full-scale for a range of designs of womenswear dresses and utilize the sewing and overlock machines to execute the sewing sequence for sleeves and dresses along with different seams, zippers, and types of finishes.
Thereafter learners will execute fittings and bespoke alterations for the garments, suited for high-end fashion.
