What You'll Learn
As the world adapts to the new normal, the arts sector in Singapore needs arts managers more than ever. Production and consumption of the arts is evolving, artists and arts organisations need more support than ever to be sustainable. The changes in technology and prolific use of social media have an impact on how audiences see arts productions. The art forms themselves have also evolved. Inter-disciplinary arts are the new normal. Gone are the days when an artist focuses solely on one art form. Arts organisations are realising that managing the arts is not simply a task which can be done by anyone with knowledge and skills in business or management. Instead, it is an area that requires specialised knowledge and skills. Effective arts management requires wide knowledge and appreciation of the arts, awareness of trends and developments, and an understanding of the evolving arts ecosystem. At the heart of arts management is the ability to manage different stakeholders including artists, audiences, crew, and sponsors.
