About This Course
This short course set the context for early childhood educators to develop meaningful relationships and partnerships with families of young children. It provides an overview of the varying types and models of parent-teacher relationships in the early years and identifies the complexities of today’s families. The course also considers practical strategies and effective communication styles that helps teachers develop their skills towards building a strong parent-teacher partnership. The course concludes with recommendations of community services and resources for families in needs based upon the Singapore context.
What You'll Learn
Learners will be able to:
• demonstrate respect for families in an inclusive preschool setting, with various cultural values and parenting styles,
• work in partnership with families for a common goal, i.e., their children’s learning and development
• adopt positive and effective communication styles in daily work with families to build strong relationship and partnerships; and
• identify community services and resources available for families in need

Entry Requirements
- Be ECDA-certified as EY1/EY2/L1/L2 educator
- Currently employed in a childcare registered or licensed with ECDA
