Designing Early Childhood Programmes (DECP) - Part of the PDC1 of Advanced Diploma in Early Childhood Centre Leadership (ADECL) (Synchronous e-Learning)
About This Course
On completion of the module, students should be able to:
a) Design programmes based on knowledge of children’s developmental stages (from birth to 6 years old), individual and collective needs and interest; diverse social and cultural background of children.
b) Evaluate documentation of children’s learning based on multi-source of inputs for effective planning.
c) Examine and evaluate factors for an integrated and child-centred approach including children’s diverse needs
d) Establish methodologies when planning for learning environment design, play and learning spaces and resources for various age groups, and the quality of interactions and relationship between educators and children
e) Partner with families in the planning of appropriate learning experiences and learning environments based on knowledge of children gathered from assessment
f) Apply UDL principles when planning programmes for all children.
g) Use key trends (including adoption of technologies), evidence-based research that informs practices, guidelines (e.g. DAP) and frameworks (e.g. NEL and EYDF) to inform and improved practices.
What You'll Learn
Entry Requirements
To be eligible for ADECL PDC1 only, candidates need to have met the following criteria:
a) Have completed an ECDA-recognised diploma in Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) or equivalent;
b) Be an ECDA–certified Level 2 teacher; and
c) Have at least 4 years of teaching experience post-L2 certification.
