Exercise Programming and Assessment
About This Course
Topics covered include exercise safety and first aid, screening of clients; with focus areas on anthropometrical assessments, as well as fitness assessments for the development and maintenance of cardio-respiratory fitness, muscular strength, power and endurance, flexibility, rehabilitation, and weight control. Students would also equip themselves with the evolving trends in the sports, health and fitness industry and the ethical issues in the delivery of sports and fitness activities.
What You'll Learn
This module aims to equip students with the theoretical knowledge and the fundamental practical skills required for health and fitness assessments across the broad range of population; from athletes to youths, elderly, and the special population such as those with chronic diseases.
Entry Requirements
O Levels
• 3 relevant passes; and
• At least 1 year relevant work experience
Higher Nitec
• GPA ≥ 2.0; or
• GPA ≥ 1.5 and at least 1 year relevant work experience
Nitec
• GPA ≥ 3.5; or
•GPA ≥ 3.0 and at least 1 year relevant work
Higher Nitec in Technology / Services
• GPA ≥ 2.0 and at least 1 year relevant work experience
Nitec in Technology / Services
• GPA ≥ 3.5 and at least 1 year relevant work experience
WSQ
• Relevant WSQ Advanced Certificate (or higher); and
• At least 1 year relevant work experience; and
• Level 6 WSQ Workplace Literacy SOA and Workplace Numeracy SOA
Applicants who do not meet the entry requirements may be considered for admission to the course based on evidence of at least 2 years of relevant working experience. Suitable applicants who are shortlisted will have to go through an interview and/or entrance test. The Polytechnic reserves the right to shortlist and admit applicants.
