About This Course

On satisfactory completion of the module, the students shall be able to:
1. Explain the fundamental concepts of programming;
2. Use appropriate software tools available in a program development environment;
3. Explain and use various primitive data types available in the programming language;
4. Use various standard built-in functions;
5. Write programs with basic constructs such as sequential, selection and repetition structures;
6. Construct programs with user-defined functions;
7. Convert algorithms into programming codes;
8. Write readable and well-structured programs.

What You'll Learn

Computer Programming - Part of Modular Certificate in Microcontroller Applications (DEMH) is a 60 hrs module. This practical-oriented module equips students with the basic knowledge and skills in computer programming using ‘C’ language. The main topics include basic computing concepts, fundamentals of C, branching, loops, and C functions. On completion of the module, students will be able to explain and write C programs for simple engineering applications.

Entry Requirements

The following GCE ‘O’ Level grades and with at least 1 year of relevant work experience:
– English Language (Grade 1-7)
– Mathematics (Grade 1-6)
– Science (Grade 1-6)
OR NITEC with GPA >= 3.5
OR NITEC with GPA >= 3.0 and with at least 1 year of relevant work experience
OR Higher NITEC with GPA >= 2.0
OR Higher NITEC with GPA >= 1.5 and with at least 1 year of relevant work experience
OR NITEC in Technology or Services with GPA >= 3.5 and with at least 1 year of relevant working experience
OR Higher NITEC in Technology or Services with GPA >=2.0 and with at least 1 year of relevant working experience
OR relevant Advanced WSQ Certificate (or higher) and Level 6 WSQ Workplace Literacy SOA and Workplace Numeracy SOA and with at least 1 year of relevant working experience
OR applicants with at least 2 years of relevant working experience may apply for the course
