About This Course
At the end of the 2-day course, participants will be able to:
• Learn about the origins of cryptography and become familiar with essential terms and definitions
• Discover differences between symmetric and asymmetric cryptography
• Understand public/private key cryptography
• Be introduced to Zero-knowledge proofs and related technology
• Understand Homomorphic encryption and its applications
• Discover the value of multiparty-computation approaches
• Explore how cryptography is used in the context of blockchains
• Become familiar with the use cases that need cryptography for secure data handling
What You'll Learn
Cryptography is part of Computer Science and offers methods for privacy preservation. And privacy is a critical enabler in our times, where economic transactions take place digitally daily. Some estimate the global e-commerce market to be worth USD9 trillion in size. And blockchains worth over USD1 trillion in aggregate aim to become the operating systems for peer-to-peer commerce in the near future. But how does the underlying technology enable privacy for data storage and transfer work? And can we explain concepts like homomorphic encryption or zero-knowledge proofs in terms that we can all understand conceptually? The course will cover use cases, and explore the opportunities and risks in the applications of cryptography.
