Electrical Safety at the Workplace
About This Course
Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:
• Understand the hazards associated with electricity and how to mitigate them.
• Identify electrical hazards in the workplace and implement appropriate control measures.
• Conduct a risk assessment for electrical hazards and implement mitigating measures to minimize the risks of electrical hazards, personal injuries, electrical fires, arc flash, and arc blast hazards.
• Understand the importance of personal protective equipment and be able to select and use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for various electrical hazards.
• Understand the requirements of relevant electrical safety regulations and standards and be able to implement them in the workplace.
• Be familiar with electrical equipment and understand safe work practices for electrical equipment, including maintenance and inspection.
• Know how to respond to electrical incidents, including developing an incident response plan, identifying and addressing incidents, and conducting post-incident analysis and reporting.
• Understand the hazards and prevention measures for electrical shock, arc flash, and arc blast, and be able to select and use appropriate PPE for these hazards.
• Understand the hazards and prevention measures for electrical fires and explosions.
• Be able to develop an electrical safety program and culture.
