About This Course

This module equips students with the fundamentals of the elasto-plastic soil behaviour which forms the basis of constitutive relationships of soils. The finite element method will be introduced, with emphasis on its application to constitutive soil models. Practical examples on applications of various models in geotechnical engineering will be discussed. Topics covered include critical state soil mechanics, finite element method, common soil models, application of finite element modelling in geotechnical engineering and various case studies.
