CHE6032N02: Risk Based Inspection
About This Course
• Control the integrity of the asset with a focus on economic value, emphasizing the financial return on such assets.
• Improve maintenance decisions by appropriately integrating risk information into the decision-making process
• Focus resources on the highest-risk equipment failures that can lead to system failures
• Reduce maintenance costs by systematically determining/optimizing facility's planned maintenance activities
• Provide an objective means to evaluate alternative inspection and test strategies
• Provide an objective means for prioritizing corrective maintenance activities
• Establish systems to collect and analyse failure cause information and failure data
What You'll Learn
Risk Based Inspection (RBI) refers to a structured, team-based assessment process with the aim of targeting inspection by considering the following two factors:
• Probability of Failure (POF): Identify the likelihood of equipment failure based on the 3 Ds – damage, deterioration, or degradation
• Consequence of Failure (COF): How the potential failure could affect the people, equipment and work environment
An RBI risk assessment should be able to identify the following:
• What damage could occur
• Where it could occur
• How quickly will the deterioration spread
• Which piece of equipment is likely to fail first
• What impact that would have
It helps to prioritize their equipment for inspection, optimize inspection methods and frequencies, and implement effective inspection program (such as repair or replacement of equipment) and risk mitigating measure commensurate with the risk contribution and equipment condition.
This training introduce the participant RBI framework and methodology to establish and implement a risk based inspection program based on API 580 principles best suited for the company objectives.
