What You'll Learn

Scientific evidences suggest that modest weight loss is likely to produce health benefits such as improvements in blood pressure, blood cholesterol and reduced CVD risk factors.

This module aims to equip learners with a basic understanding on the science of nutrition on weight management. The learners will study the roles of various nutrients (Carbohydrates, Fats, Proteins, Vitamins and Minerals) as well as their digestion and absorption in a human body. They will also learn about the important nutrition concepts, namely Dietary Reference Intakes (DRI) and nutritional tools, for meal analysis and planning. This course also addresses the different FAD diets and debunks the myths of weight lost.
