Equip healthcare professionals with:
1 Basic theoretical knowledge underlying clinical education
2 Knowledge of supervision/assessment frameworks
3 Clinical educator skills: building supervisory relationships, understanding supervisory styles
4 Strategies to enhance supervisee's clinical reasoning skills
5 Feedback skills and strategies for improving supervisee's performance
6 Strategies for specific supervisory contexts
Learners will apply these skills in the following areas:
1 Supervision of students
2 Supervision of newly qualified Speech Therapists (STs)
3 Supervision of junior staff
What You'll Learn
This two-day programme will introduce new and early Clinical Supervisors to the foundations of clinical education, stages of supervision, and learner-focused strategies for building effective clinical supervision skills. The programme will focus on development of supervision skills for allied healthcare professionals with 0 to 2 years of experience in supervising students, Allied Health Professional Council (AHPC)'s conditional registrants and/or junior therapists. Training will include small group activities, video vignettes, practice exercises and class reflection.
Entry Requirements
0-2 years of supervisory experience.
This experience can be with students / AHPC con reg / junior therapists.
