Basic Electronics & Applications - Part of Modular Certificate in Fundamentals of Electrical & Electronic Applications (DEEC2)
About This Course
This module aims to introduce learners to the basics of electronic devices and some common applications. It includes an introduction to semiconductor physics as well as the construction, operating principles and common applications of diodes and transistors. Electronic circuits covered include rectifiers, voltage regulators, waveform clippers and surge protection. Calculations of average and root-mean-square (rms) values of periodic signals are also taught.
Learners should also be able to analyze and calculate the electrical parameters of diode and transistor circuits. They should have acquired sufficient knowledge and skills to design simple Zener voltage regulator as well as transistor circuits as an electronic switch or as a voltage amplifier.
