Topic 1: Introduction to Lab Processes
• Understand about Laboratory Processes
• List the different specialized laboratories Hematology , Blood Bank, and Biochemistry
• Explain the proper procedures of specimen handling, waste disposal, disinfection, sharps (slides), biohazardous materials
• Understand the importance of quality management in a laboratory
Topic 2: Routine Biochemistry Laboratory
• List the appropriate samples used in biochemistry investigations and sample preparation
• State the significance of laboratory investigations such as Arterial Blood Gas analysis (ABG), cardiac markers, glucose, inflammatory markers, serological tests
• Relate the lab results to common diseases
• Learn how to use Point-of-Care Testing (POCT) devices such as glucometer

• Relate blood grouping to compatibilities between Donor and Recipient
• Understand about transfusion reactions and its fatalities
