About This Course

This course aims to train caregivers with the knowledge on how to provide safe, quality home care, as well as managing their expectation for taking care of their seniors.

What You'll Learn

This course is bespoke and designed to teach the knowledge and skills that a specific caregiver would need to provide care to a senior being discharged from The Salvation Army Peacehaven (residential or day care).

The learner will be briefed on the current capabilities of the care recipient and which activities of daily living that they will need assistance or full support in and the nursing/therapeutic tasks that will need to be performed at home.

Instructional method will be via demonstration and return demonstration of each skill that is required for the specific care recipient.

Examples of personal care skills include:
• Transferring
• Assisted Showering/bed bathing

Examples of nursing/therapeutic skills include:
• Catheter Care
• Basic Wound Care
• Tracheostomy Care
