About This Course

The Basic Exercise Science Course aims to equip participants with basic knowledge and skills in how to exercise. Participants will be taught the fundamentals in exercise terminologies, human anatomy, physiology, nutrition, aerobic training, resistance training techniques, flexibility, etc. Participants will be issued a certificate after successful completion of the course and theory examination.

Introduction to Exercise Science, Terminologies and Principles of Training
Human Anatomy and Basic Biomechanics
Exercise Physiology and Adaptations to Physical Activity/Exercise
Nutrition and healthy eating
Weight-management
Exercise Psychology (Behavioural Change/Motivation)
Basic health screening and fitness/basic movement appraisal/orientation
Exercise prescription – Endurance programs
Introduction to group exercise
Introduction to exercise and special populations (children, seniors, pregnant, co-morbid).
