About This Course
• Demonstrate heighten knowledge of dementia of elderly and the challenging behaviour of elderly suffering from dementia.
• Identify and understand the root causes and To identify & list the various types of challenging behaviour of the elderly: Agitation, Anger and Aggression
• the main issues of the elderly challenging behaviours, on agitation, anger and aggression.
• Demonstrate knowledge and the easy-to-remember tips, methods and strategies applicable to different difficult behaviour with prevention of injury. Such as
1. Proper use of restrainers (last resort)
2. Deescalating approaches
3. Effective communication
4. Building trusting relationship
• Show ability to minimise or prevent occurrence and re-occurrence of the elderly challenging behaviours.
• Demonstrate safety care /approaches to elderly and self.
What You'll Learn
• Take appropriate action such as deacceleration steps to attend to the aggressive elderly.
• Demonstrate ability to the safe use of body or hand restrainer (last resort)
• Manage the elderly who is dementia, through the timely medication, structured activities & exercise
• Offer comfort to the agitated through effective communication & exercises and structured Activities and trusting relationship.
• Have more confident in dealing with the challenging behaviour of the elderly.
