About This Course
Graduate training in Sociology at NUS aims to expand the quality and scope of social science practice in Singapore, Asia and beyond. The aim of Master's level training is to equip these students to continue on to complete further postgraduate degrees or take the skills of their graduate training into the public or private sector. A Masters in Sociology provides our graduates with critical thinking skills along with advanced training in qualitative and quantitative research methods. The aim of our PhD training is to produce world-class social science scholars in sociology, anthropology and cultural studies, which are the three disciplinary paths which our students can pursue.
What You'll Learn
We offer 3 research programmes leading to the degrees of - Master of Social Sciences (Sociology) and - Doctor of Philosophy (Sociology or Anthropology) - The research degree provides specialised training through independent investigation, study and experimental work, culminating in the submission of a thesis on the research undertaken. A supervisor or supervisors will be appointed for each candidate. PhD students will be assigned thesis committees (TC). Candidates are required to attend appropriate lectures and sit for written examinations.
