About This Course
This course aims to provide caregivers with the knowledge on how to manage expectations and skills to manage the day-to day care of the elderly. Caregivers will also learn ways to take care of themselves as well as get an overview of the various resources available to support them in their journey as a caregiver.
What You'll Learn
Module 1 (1.5hours): Understand the basic nutrition requirement of the elderly and the different diet therapies needed for the management of the various chronic diseases ie Diabetes (with/without insulin), Hypertension, Hyperlipidemia, and kidney disease. How to make informed changes to the patient’s diet with regards to the quality of the diet, texture modification, meal timings. Topics such as Understanding food labels, and its nutritional information as well as Weight Management will be discussed.
Module 2 (1.5hours): Improve the nutrition quality of the diet with/ without modified texture to enhance the nutritional status of the patient through live cooking demonstration; How to put the diet theories together into practice – this session aim to demonstrate how to prepare healthy, tasty dishes (with different ethnicity).
