About This Course
At the end of the course, participants would be able to:
1. Demonstrate awareness and understanding of the historical development and status quo of Chinese IP system;
2. Describe and explain the major challenges in building an effective IP regime in China and other developing societies;
3. Develop an awareness and understanding of the international politics of IP enforcement;
4. Acquire a better understanding of the jurisprudence of intellectual property law and the theory of law and economics (social science); and
5. Develop an ability of conducting research on complicated intellectual property issues.

This course introduces the features of intellectual property rights, the development of China's intellectual property law system, the intellectual property laws in China and China's obligations under international treaties regarding IP. Besides discussing the laws and regulations of China's IP laws, the course will also use case illustrations to help the students to understand the laws and regulations. The content comprises 5 parts: the features of IP law, copyright law, patent law, trade mark law & international IP treaties.
