                                                    About This Course
At the end of the course, participants should be able to:
1. Demonstrate a practical knowledge of tax implications in commercial transactions;
2. Acquire an enhanced appreciation of the interaction of company and property law concepts with tax laws;
3. Apply tax rules to identify tax risks in major corporate restructuring; and
4. Advise clients on the tax planning options to major corporate restructuring transactions.
What You'll Learn
This course is offered under the Faculty of Law's Graduate Coursework Programmes in Corporate & Financial Services Law.
One–third of the course will be delivered as lectures that aim to provide participants with the necessary foundation on common tax laws that apply to corporations. The remaining twothirds of the course will take the form of seminars cum presentations focusing on detailed studies or case studies of major corporate tax law issues. These would include hypotheticals that raise selected tax issues that range from incorporation to winding up. A study of these issues would entail an evaluation of solutions to tax issues arising from IPOs, mergers and acquisitions, disposal of assets, group losses, use of hybrid financial instruments, asset financing techniques, creation and exploitation of IP rights, corporate distributions, assignments of economic interests, corporate tax planning pitfalls and liquidation.

A good Bachelor's or Juris Doctor degree in Law
