Behavioural Insights for Social Service Professionals
About This Course
This 2-day workshop provides a basic introduction to the field of behavioural insights (BI) and its applications within the social service sector. It aims to equip social service professionals with foundational knowledge in behavioural insights (BI) and understand how it can be applied in their work.
BI is the application of behavioural sciences to manage, influence, and change people’s behaviours. Within the social service sector, behavioural insights (BI) can be applied to improve client and service delivery, decision-making, program development, policy planning, and work management (e.g., people management, change management, policy planning).
In the social service sector, having to manage, influence and change human behaviour is at the core of its function and work. Hence, it is imperative for social service professionals to be equipped with a good understanding of how behavioural science theories can be applied to help manage, influence and change people’s behaviors, so that they can work better with their clients and stakeholders and develop more effective client- and service-oriented programs and policies.
An understanding of behavioural science will enhance knowledge and skills that are aligned with the Skills Framework for Social Service, such as program development, implementation and evaluation client and service delivery, advocacy, volunteer partnership, and youth engagement and development.
