About This Course
This course provides comprehensive training in the installation, maintenance, and management of natural grass sports turf. Participants will learn project management oversight for various installation processes, including base grading, material selection, subsurface drainage, irrigation installation, sand selection, turfgrass selection, and turfgrass establishment. Additionally, the course covers soil assessment and amelioration techniques, teaching participants to recognize different soil types and compositions. Turf maintenance topics include weeding, mowing operations, patch repair, and applying horticultural practices. Participants will also learn to identify and manage common turf pests, diseases, and fungi, along with control measures and treatment methods. The course covers the use of organic and inorganic fertilizers, application methods, equipment safety, and personal protective equipment (PPE). Lastly, participants will learn best practices for natural turf usage, including managing turf usage intensity, rest cycles, and suspending play after storm events.
By the end of the course, participants will be equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary for successful natural grass athletic field installation, maintenance, and management.
