This course will equip the individuals with the essential competencies to Perform ManLock Attendant Duties for Compressed Air Work safely.

The Performance Statements (PS) covered are:
PS1. Interpret WSH Act and its subsidiary legislations relating to Compressed Air Works (CAW)
PS2. List the roles and responsibilities of a Man-Lock Attendant and assess the suitability of learners to enter the compressed air (CA) environment
PS3. Identify symptoms of compressed air illnesses and barotraumas
PS4. Perform calculation of air pressure for compressed air environment
PS5. Perform compression procedure before entering into compressed air environment
PS6. Identify and respond to fire hazards in tunnelling and compressed air environment
PS7. Perform decompression procedure before leaving compressed air environment
PS8. Maintain lock attendant register including health declaration form for all compressed air learners and report all learners with symptoms of decompression illnesses (DCI) and barotraumas
PS9. Assist in the administration of oxygen first aid

Entry Requirements
Learners must be certified medically fit to enter compressed air environment by a designated factory doctor (DFD).
Learners should not be physically handicapped and should have normal colour vision.
Learners must be trained in first aid.
Learners must possess knowledge of diving, compressed air work, hyperbaric environments or hyperbaric medicine and fire-fighting.
Learners need to have successfully completed:
o Construction Safety Orientation Course (CSOC) for Learners
o Safety Orientation Course (Tunnelling) for Learners
