About This Course

1. Understand analytical techniques most appropriate for deriving valid insights
2. Be able to identify the appropriate types of data and measures that can provide insights into people questions
3. Be able to assess critically the evidence or evidence-like statements you encounter relevant to organizational problems
4. Be able to know rather than guess which organizational designs (e.g., managing tools, team designs etc.) could be effective
5. Be able to think about complex organizations and organizational issues by breaking them down into a few basic building blocks (or “micro-structures”)
6. Build an up-to-the-minute grounding in current evidence about managing people and a knowledge base that ensures your future management of people is guided by best practices.

What You'll Learn

This course explores organizational (re)design at its most cutting-edge. As a result, Organization Analytics' innovative ideas represent a significant departure from conventional management practices and organizational structure design—those that emphasize incentive compensation and reporting; those that rely on long-standing traditions and hearsay; and those that emphasize a "copy best practice" approach to building organizational charts' boxes and arrows. The new approaches apply scientific knowledge and methods (e.g., Machine Learning) to the improvement of organizational design, and are enabled by a combination of theoretical breakthroughs and increasing processing power and data availability as a result of digitalization.
