About This Course
Knowledge and Insight (Understanding)
• Standard recommendations for calorie and dietary requirements at various time points in childhood (neonate, infancy, early childhood, school-going children), including appropriate weaning during infancy.
• Enuresis and encopresis (normal development of bowel and bladder control in children) 
• Normal puberty and its variation including onset, progression and tempo 
Application of Knowledge & Insight
• Recognize normal growth and deviation from norms in weight, height and head circumference, including identifying early risks of malnutrition and obesity.
• Assess a child’s nutritional history and calorie consumption (physical activity) and identify areas for intervention 
• Provide appropriate advice on mandatory and optional childhood vaccination schedules, vaccine administration and potential adverse effects
• Provide travel vaccines and travel advice, noting special circumstances (for example: child with Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency (G6PD deficiency) , child on immunosuppressants, child on prolonged steroids)
Appraisal (formation of a judgement)
• Perform developmental assessment, and identify red flags of delay or regression
• Evaluate common rashes, institute appropriate first-line management and identify red flags for specialist referral
• Evaluate the fussy infant and identify red flags for specialist referrals, including offering advice for infant colic
Communication Skills
• Effectively communicate advice for vaccines, diet and developmental issues
• Counselling skills (providing reassurance and anticipatory guidance)
What You'll Learn
Entry Requirements
(1) Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree or equivalent 
(2) At least 2 years post-registration 
(3) English language requirement: applicants whose native tongue or medium of undergraduate instruction is not English must fulfil a minimum level of English proficiency
