About This Course

Singapore’s ageing population is rising rapidly. By 2030, an estimated one million Singaporeans will be aged 65 and above. Thus, an increasing number of seniors will need access to support services in the community to age in place. A strong community- based support system which aims to achieve satisfactory physical, cognitive, psychosocial well-being of seniors and keeping them as long as possible in the community by minimising the admission, re-admission rates cum premature institutionalisation in nursing homes was envisioned. To make this possible, a strong social-health integration services and programs i.e. proactive, broad based and integrated programs partnering with various government agencies and community partners; will be crucial. Therefore, understanding and training on legal, ethical and regulatory requirements is important as all SOPs in community health-social services programme delivering are legally bound and/or linked, which means that there will be legal implications if there are any breach in protocols. Hence, to understand the laws, processes and ethical issues in the sectors is essential.
