Critical Thinking Series : Visual Spatial Mental Flexibility (Classroom and Asynchronous e-learning)
About This Course
This programme will focus on the visual spatial aspects of critical thinking where students will engage in experiential learning to apply perceptual analysis and cognitive flexibility to their professional and personal development. The Feuerstein Instrumental Enrichment (FIE) will be used. FIE is a cognitive coaching approach that has been established for more than 60 years. It is based on the theory of Structural Cognitive Modifiability and Mediated Learning Experience, which can modify cognition over time and make thinking more flexible. This 36-hour programme invites you to start a lifelong journey of transformation as you experience first-hand how you can learn to exercise awareness and control over your cognitive functions. That's about how long it takes to modify habits of the mind. A comprehensive pre- and post-dynamic assessment test is included so you can see progress in your own critical thinking ability.
Visual-spatial skills can help problem-solving in engineering, creativity for designers, navigation for those in the transport industry, operating machinery for technical workers, safety awareness for outdoor workers, etc. Flexibility will be a focus so that learners will be able think critically and abstractly by manipulating visual-spatial elements in their minds.
