This course offers a deep dive into the art of creating the Sarong Kebaya, a traditional South East Asian skirt and blouse ensemble. Learners will gain insights into drafting fitted garments, with specific attention to the unique aspects of the Kebaya and Sarong. This includes drafting a basic blouse and skirt block based on specific measurements, exploring various pleated skirt styles, and achieving a perfect fit through meticulous sewing and pattern adjustment. The course will also cover motif placement techniques and high-quality construction finishes, essential for working with intricate batik fabrics.

This unit is delivered through white board drafting, quarter scale drafting, demonstrations and hands-on sewing operations.

Entry Requirements

Local:
• Possess a minimum credit in English at GCE “N” Level
or its equivalent.
International:
• IELTS score 4.5 or TOEFL iBT score 32.
• High School Diploma equivalent to GCE ‘N’ Levels with
minimum grade C6 for 3 subjects, including English
and Mathematics.
• ALL Students are required to have basic computing skills -
i.e., able to turn on the laptop, use the mouse, drag, and
drop files, use online search engines for research; and be
a competent user of Microsoft Office.
