This course provides hands-on training in basic garment alterations for woven and knit garments, ideal for individuals looking to enhance their skills in tailoring and garment repair. Participants will learn to perform simple alterations on a variety of garments, including tops, shirts, skirts, pants, and dresses, following industry standards to ensure high-quality results.
The course covers techniques to determine the appropriate amount of fabric to take in or release, using proper pinning methods to guide alterations. Learners will practice transferring alteration markings onto garments with accuracy, which is essential for achieving the desired fit. Participants will gain experience in using sewing and finishing machines to make alterations based on these markings, ensuring clean and professional finishes.
Finally, the course emphasizes measuring altered garments against the original specifications, verifying that each alteration aligns with fit and quality standards. Entry Requirements
Singapore/PR Students:
GCE ‘N’ Level with 3 credits including English and Mathematics OR
WSQ ES WPLN Level 4 and above
International Students:
High School Diploma equivalent to GCE ‘N’ Level with 3 credits including English and Mathematics OR
Qualifications from professional institutes may be considered on a case-by-case basis AND/OR
Pass TaF.tc Entrance Test
English Language Requirement –
Possess a minimum credit in English at GCE ‘N’ Level or its equivalent OR
IELTS score 4.5 or TOEFL score 32
