This course is designed to provide learners with an in-depth understanding of the contemporary scientific principles that underpin infection control and prevention practices. 2. Demonstrate understanding of essential microbiology as it affects infection control.
3. Apply the knowledge of microbiology and clinical infectious diseases to interpret laboratory results especially in critical care settings.
4. Demonstrate basic understanding of immunology and host defense.
5. Apply knowledge of immunology and host defense to identify patients at risks in the acute and community healthcare settings.
6. Apply knowledge of mode of transmission of pathogens to implement appropriate infection control and prevention strategies.
7. Demonstrate understanding of basic concepts of epidemiology.
8. Apply knowledge of healthcare epidemiology in surveillance methods and data analysis.
