About This Course
Participants will be able to:
1.Describe the theoretical perspectives, frameworks and models related to various types of child abuse;
2.Explain the impact and implications of trauma on child development;
Give examples of strategies to engage and support caregivers based on the different Child Protection (CP) dynamics.
What You'll Learn
The session describes the various types of child abuse (neglect, sexual abuse, physical abuse and emotional/psychological abuse) and its influences on professional judgement and engagement with families. It also touches on the impact of trauma on child development when a child has adverse childhood experiences.
Entry Requirements
Degree in social work or psychology.
For other degree disciplines, participants should have at least 1 year of experience in working closely with Child Protective Service (CPS) on child protection concern.
