About This Course

This is a module under the Diploma in Border & Security Management.

What You'll Learn

This module covers the emergence of the concept of border security. It introduces border control policies adopted by a country in fighting against unauthorised travel and trade across its borders, safeguarding against illegal immigration, combating transnational crime, and preventing the wanted criminal from travelling. It will also elaborate on the role of international organisations in promoting standards and recommended procedures related to travel documents and border control measures. The module will also take a closer look at how the use of technology can enhance border security. Lastly, there will be an examination of the various border security measures adopted in Singapore.

Entry Requirements

GCE ‘O’ Levels:
3 relevant passes and 1-year relevant working experience:
Subjects/Min. Grade:
1. English Language: Grade 6
2. Mathematics (Elementary or Additional): Grade 6
3. Physics: Grade 6

FT Nitec:
GPA > 3.5 OR GPA > 3.0 and 1 year of relevant working experience

PT Nitec in Technology/Services: GPA > 3.5 and 1 year of relevant working experience

FT Higher Nitec: GPA > 2.0 OR GPA > 1.5 and 1 year of relevant working experience

PT Higher Nitec in Technology/Services: GPA > 2.0 and 1 year of relevant working experience

WSQ Diploma: Relevant WSQ Advanced Certificate (or higher) with 1 year of relevant working experience and Level 6 for both WSQ Workplace Literacy SOA & Workplace Numeracy SOA.

Without any of the relevant academic qualifications: At least 2 years of relevant working experience.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL): Applicants who do not meet the entry requirements may be considered for admission to the course based on supporting evidence
