About This Course

Dementia Care: A Multidisciplinary Approach focuses on the prevalence and awareness of the implications of dementia as an age-related disease in our society. Students will learn about the medical as well as social aspects of dementia, including the symptoms and behavioural effects. The socioeconomic consequences for the individual, the family and the society will be discussed. Medical and functional assessment protocol for a patient with dementia will be covered in this course. A wide spectrum of pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions will be interactively shared by experts from the field. Research findings in the typologies of dementia, and relevant programmes that can delay the progression of the disease are included. To increase the students’ experiential learning, an agency visit will also be organised. Comparison of policy frameworks implemented in different developed nations will conclude the course.
