About This Course
MTH240 Engineering Mathematics I will introduce students to the mathematical foundations of linear algebra and probability required for solutions to engineering problems. The course will be driven from the engineering systems perspective and expose students to methodology to identify appropriate simplifications in system modelling that lead to simplified mathematical description from a more comprehensive one.
What You'll Learn
1. Calculate the probability of the occurrence of an event.
2. Compute a basis of a given subspace.
3. Determine expectation and variance of random variables.
4. Solve system of linear equations.
5. Evaluate the eigenvalues and eigenvectors of a given square matrix.
6. Apply probability models in practical settings.
