About This Course
MTH321 Engineering Mathematics II will introduce students to solve differential equations for solutions to engineering problems. The course will explore various fundamental techniques such as the method of undetermined coefficients and Laplace transform to solve ordinary differential equations and Fourier series to solve partial differential equations. Relevant physical models such as vibrating string, heat flow from a body in space and membranes will be taught alongside with the mathematics.
What You'll Learn
1. Determine the solutions of a given differential equation by Laplace transform.
2. Show the validity of given mathematical statements on differential equations.
3. Solve a given partial differential equation by Fourier series
4. Compute the Fourier series of a piecewise continuous function.
5. Formulate mathematical models in practical settings.
6. Calculate the Fourier transform of an absolutely integrable function
