A competent individual should be equipped with the following knowledge:
1) Introduction to CNC machines
- Classification of CNC machines
- Introduction to CNC Lathes
- Introduction to CNC Machining Centres
2) Machining Techniques
- 3-axis and multi-axis machining techniques
- 5-axis positional machining vs. 5-axis continuous machining
3) Part Programming and Editing
- Introduction to CNC control system and part programming
- Part programs transfer between Data Server and CNC machines
- Part programs transfer using USB interfaces
4) Setting up the CNC Machine
- Manual operations with ‘JOG’ and ‘HANDWHEEL’ modes
-- Automatic operations with ‘MDI’ mode
- Program verification with ‘DRY RUN’ mode
- Program execution with ‘MEMORY’ or ‘AUTO’ operation
- Datum point setting
- Tool length setting

Candidates with ITE Nitec / Higher Nitec / NTC-2 / WSQ Advanced Certificate or equivalent qualifications with at least four years of relevant experience in the manufacturing/precision engineering
