About This Course
This course will enable an individual to acquire the knowledge and skills to perform mechanical sweeping of pavements, grass verges and open carparks.
What You'll Learn
By the end of this course, learners will be able to:
LO1. Identify the appropriate mechanical sweeper and other equipment to be used for pavement, grass verge and open car parks cleaning
LO2. Don appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in accordance with industry standards and practice before commencing cleaning work
LO3. Conduct routine maintenance and checks on the mechanical sweeper to ensure safe operation
LO4. Set up appropriate safety signage at designated areas before commencing cleaning operations
LO5. Perform the cleaning operations using the mechanical sweeper in accordance with organisational procedures and device manufacturer’s instructions
LO6. Notify the appropriate person or supervisor if work activities cannot be carried out
LO7. Return the mechanical sweeper to its bay after completing the cleaning operation
LO8. Refill consumable cleaning supplies as required after each cleaning work to ensure future cleaning operations can be performed without delay

Entry Requirements
Entry Requirements
- Full understanding of road signs and traffic regulations
- Able to apply organisational procedures related to performing cleaning activities
- Able to apply industrial standards and practices relating to the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Able to read, speak and write English at a proficiency level equivalent to the Employability Skills System (ESS) Literacy Level 2
- Able to manipulate numbers at a proficiency level equivalent to the ESS Numeracy Level 2
