FDM6100 Fire Engineering Science
About This Course
Fire Engineering Science is one of the building blocks to develop proficiency in fire safety engineering.
The application of Fire Engineering Science is crucial in ensuring safety and mitigating the risks associated with fire hazards in the built environment.
It integrates principles from various disciplines, including engineering, physics, chemistry, and human behaviour to develop comprehensive fire safety solutions to the design.
The diverse applications can be found in many unique and iconic complex structures and projects locally, i.e., the Esplanade, Gardens-by-the Bay, Marina Bay Sands and our rail transit infrastructures and mega integrated development.
What You'll Learn
2. Comprehend the principles of fire chemistry and physics,
3. Analyse the mechanisms of heat transfer and flame spread
4. Explain the behaviour of gas and fluid flows in fire scenarios, including
a. the formation and dynamics of fire plumes, and
b. assess the effects of these flows on fire propagation and
c. control strategies.
Entry Requirements
There are no minimum requirements. However, possession of a relevant educational or technical background is preferred or an advantage. The learner must make that informed decision whether he can successfully complete the module.
