About This Course

At the workplace, the ability to communicate effectively with peers & colleagues is crucial in order to carry out your duties and responsibilities. To further advance at the workplace, it is important to be able to use communication skills to build and maintain relationships, rapport, and trust among colleagues, and to understand that people have diverse communication styles because of social, cultural, and individual differences.

This course equips supervisors with methods and technology to communicate ideas and information appropriately and perform effective listening and speaking skills in verbal communications. Participants will learn to apply appropriate communication techniques and tools to cater to individuals with different styles to establish and maintain positive relationships at the workplace Participants will also learn how to evaluate gaps and barriers in workplace communication to improve on team communication within the organisation.

This course covers the following content:
• Understanding professional standards relating to communications
• Sources of information within and outside the organization
• Principles of effective communications and interpersonal techniques
• Recognising the different contexts for communication styles
• Modes of communication and communication tools and their characteristics
• Social behavioral and cultural differences that impact communications
• Barriers to effective communications including digital literacy
• Using S.M.A.R.T model for communications plan
• Supervisory Communication techniques
• Influencing your team positively via communication
• Communication skills for coaching
• Conflict management, teamwork, problem solving

What You'll Learn

At the end of the course, participants will be able to:

1. Use appropriate communication techniques and tools to suit different communication styles within formal and informal settings
2. Apply a range of communication styles and approaches when engaging with different audiences
3. Create a structured communications plan using the S.M.A.R.T model
4. Handle and manage team communications
5. Apply coaching skills via communication

Entry Requirements

- GCE 'O' level Credit (at least C6) in English and Mathematics or Workplace Literacy and Numeracy (WPLN) score: Level 5 for Reading, Listening and Numeracy; and

- With at least 2 years supervisory working experience in retail or 3 years supervisory/managerial working experience in non-retail sector

For E-Learning classes at SIRS, participants MUST have the following:
•Laptop / desktop computer
•Stable WIFI
•Webcam (external or built-in)
•Earpiece / headphone with microphone
