About This Course
The course aims to provide participants with practical knowledge of safety aspects of additive manufacturing technology. This course covers different regulatory standards and codes applicable to Additive Manufacturing (AM) and guidance on how these standards apply to your facility. It is beneficial for AM equipment users, AM engineers and managers, as well as facility or safety managers responsible for ensuring the safety of operations and environments within their organisations. This course provides the opportunity for participants to be awarded a certificate recognised by American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) International’s Additive Manufacturing Centre of Excellence (AM CoE).
What You'll Learn
This course, having classroom and asynchronous e-learning mode of training, provides guidance on the safety issues to consider when setting up a safe Additive Manufacturing (AM) facility. They will learn how to recognise and document hazards presented by the AM materials, equipment, facility and implement risk mitigation steps. Participants will learn about process hazard analysis relating to additive manufacturing and apply it to their work.
By the end of the Course, participants will be able to:
- Describe standards applicable to AM processes.
- Describe the importance and impact of AM safety
- Recognise and document hazards presented by the AM materials, equipment, and facility.
- Implement risk mitigation steps.
- Identify facility and equipment design requirements that enhance safety.
- Describe how to handle and store waste materials generated from the AM process.
