At the end of the course, the participants will be able to: 1. Introduce various energy storage technologies for electric vehicles and stationary storage applications. 2. Present their characteristics such as storage capacity and power capabilities. 3. Understand various components and working principles of electrochemical and electrical storage technologies including redox flow, Na-S, Li-ion batteries and supercapacitors. 4. Address the factors affecting the performances of Li-ion battery deployed in various sectors including electric vehicles, stationary energy storage systems, aerospace and marine and finally illustrate a few failure modes causing safety issues
What You'll Learn
Energy storage technologies are vital for success of electric mobility and micro-grids to address climate change mitigation. This course introduces various types of storage technologies including pumped hydro, flywheel, compressed air and thermal storage along with their characteristics such as storage capacity and power for various applications. Second part of this course covers various components and working principles of electrochemical and electrical storage technologies including redox flow, Na-S, Li-ion batteries and supercapacitors. This course will also address the factors affecting the performances of Li-ion battery deployed in various sectors including electric vehicles, stationary energy storage systems, aerospace and marine and finally illustrate a few failure modes causing safety issues.
Entry Requirements
Postgraduate/Bachelor/Diploma holders or equivalent qualifications, OR - Relevant work experience in science or engineering background
