About This Course
Upon completion of the course, learners will be able to:
• Distinguish between the requirements of the Charity Accounting Standard (CAS)
and the Financial Reporting Standards (FRS)
• Differentiate between CAS and Recommended Accounting Practice (RAP6)
• Determine how to apply the principles underlying the preparation of the
Statement of Financial Activities
• Prepare simple financial statements based on the CAS

Entry Requirements
Target audience includes all financial and accounting professionals of charities tasked with the preparation of the charities’ financial statements. Accounting background is a pre-requisite to enrol into this programme.
The skills and knowledge for this course, which the learner is assumed to possess, are as follows:
• Be able to listen and speak English at a proficiency level equivalent to the Employability Skills System Workplace Literacy (WPL) Level 6
• Be able to read and write English at a proficiency level equivalent to the Employability Skills System Workplace Literacy (WPL) Level 6
• Be able to use numeracy skills equivalent to the Employability Skills System Workplace Numeracy (WPN) Level 6
