About This Course

By the end of the course, learners will be able to:

Learning Outcome 1: Explain how the solar PV system is configured.

Learning Outcome 2: Apply site analysis procedures to evaluate the suitability of sites and recommend optimisation methods.

Learning Outcome 3: Administer energy assessments to determine the suitability of sites.

What You'll Learn

Feasibility Assessment of Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Installations aims to equip learners with the necessary skills to ensure site suitability where
a solar power plant is optimally located.

Placing the plant in unsuitable site will cause solar PV production efficiency to drop and even cause it to malfunction.

Learners be instructed on what constitutes site suitability, how to assess sites, conduct energy assessment and optimise solar PV designs.

In this way, they can help to resolve space optimisation problem, derive optimum cost function value, and mitigate technical constraints related to the suitability of the sites for the plants.

Learners for this course will eventually take on the job roles of Energy manager, Senior Solar Technologist and Principal Solar Technologist. They have to manage work involving solar panel installation and they need to be keenly aware of site suitability and optimisation of designs for best energy and economical yield.

This course will also equip learners with the knowledge and skills to administer energy assessments and site analysis procedures so that learners can recommend suitable sites and optimisation methods for usable space.

Entry Requirements

Assumed Skills and Knowledge

Learners are assumed to be:
• Knowledgeable of electrical engineering competencies
